Eco-committee Meeting Minutes

 Thursday 22nd April 2010


 Ms George, Emily H, Harry McbB, Kane, Chloe M, Cole, Olivia S,

We discussed the minutes. Class four have done some posters about the nature table,
walk to school week and saving water and electricity.
 
Next meeting is on the 6th of May

The green books need to be taken to eco committee. The second week after Easter we are going to have our first walk to school week and the at the end of summer. Kane and Chloe are going to change the pictures on the eco board. We need to count the shoes that we have all collected. We need to put more signs up about saving electricity and water.

The green flag application has been sent off, so we should get a phone call for when an inspector is coming to view our school. We had a look at our action plan and talked about walk to school week. We had a vote on who wanted to have a big board out in the playground, where you stick things on or each child has a card that gets hole punched, when they walk to school or walk back home, share a car journey, go by bicycle or walk half the way. We decided on a card each

We looked a the action plan for 2010. We agreed on the action plan for 2010. A boy and a girl from eco committee needs to go round the school and check that all the eco schools posters are up and can be clearly read.

We need to do another audit to have a go at getting the green flag. We also need to write an action plan for 2010.
Collect information about what eco things we have done this year for eco schools. We need new photos to go on the eco board. Re - view eco code. It is possible that the eco committee eco code poster competition. the best poster will be displayed somewere around school. We need to get the green flag form sent off before February half term.

Thursday 19th November

Present: Kier, Kane, Cole, Harry, Emily, Ms George

The big tidy on next Thursday. There will a letter coming out on Friday about the big tidy. It starts at school and ends at chapel lane.

Don’t forget about the suggestion box. There is one near the office for anyone to use.

November 5th 2009 

Present: Ms George, Teagan , Olivia, Cole, George, Emily, Harry 
The big tidy up for 60 minutes makeover on the 26th November. Year two to year six are invited 
to do litter picking in the village. If lots of people are wanting to come then there will be another 
litter picking after school. Places will be limited. Litter picking club was suggested. We might do
a litter picking after the fireworks.

We need to give people a chance to say what eco things they want in class council time. 
Human Christmas fruit machine. Christmas fair crafts as well.

October 15th 2009

 

Present: Miss George,  Mrs Little,  Connor, Sophie, Teagan, Olivia, Cole, Emily, Harry M, Angarad

There is now going to be paper recycling at school. We will try to make bird boxes in
forest schools. We will try to do another nature walk after school. Nature Detective's day on 
20th October. 125 autumn activities on the website. We might make a bird out of paper recycling 
to represent eco! Need to talk about milk cartons next week.

October 1st 2009

Present: Ms George, Mrs Little, Chloe, Ollie, Olivia S, Cole, Emily, Harry M

We talked about the suggestion boxes and the books.

Mrs little will find out about paper recycling for the school.

We found out what we did last year.

We decided to make some bird boxes to put up in forest school. We are going to make some more bird feeders.

We suggested wind turbines. This has been looked into previously, but is not a viable option for our school.

1st Meeting

We need to:
  • Cut down on electricity (fuel)
  • Research – Turning on and off electricity (e.g. lights). Does this use up more energy than letting them run for a while?
  • Put labels by lights etc. to remind people to turn them off
  • Keep the doors closed, mainly outside doors.
  • Don’t drop litter, put it in a bin!!!!
  • Bins to be put at each end of the field
  • Turn off lights, computers, music and any other things that use electricity when they are not being used
